Updating the gnome-web-photo

Gnome-web-photo doesn't support adobe flash by default. There are some other issues with it as well. We provide a few patches that enable the flash and make it more suitable for serving web page thumbnails.

Getting the gnome-web-photo

Try getting and running the gnome-web-photo with the following command:

sudo apt-get install gnome-web-photo
git clone git://git.gnome.org/gnome-web-photo

Graphics aren't always enabled by default even on dedicated servers. Installing the complete ubuntu-desktop (on Ubuntu servers of course) should do it:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

This is especially true if you see the following:

imageserviceagebt@server261583:~$ gnome-web-photo
Failed to connect to Mir: Failed to connect to server socket: No such file or directory
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
Cannot open display:

Check if this helps:

export XAUTHORITY=/var/run/lightdm/root/:0
export DISPLAY=:0.0
sudo xhost +local:imageserviceagent
